Weddings

Guests Arrive at the Ceremony- As guests arrive at the wedding site, the melodic sound of the bagpipes will guide them to the entrance of the site/church, thus notifying them exactly where the event is being held. As the guests wait for the ceremony to begin, the enchanting wedding marches and slow aires played on the bagpipes will add extra entertainment value.

Prelude- A bagpiper can play ceremonial marches from within the wedding site or from the outside at the start of the service. Some traditional choices include Mari’s Wedding, The Flower of Scotland, Green Hills of Tyrol and Scotland the Brave.

Processional- Piping in the flower girl, the bridesmaids/groomsmen and prominent members of the family before the bride makes her ceremonial march down the aisle. Both traditional slow marches like Green Hills of Tyrol and more contemporary 6/8 marches such as Lily Christie are excellent recommendations.

Bridal Procession- A bagpiper will accompany the bride and father/family member/friend as they march down the aisle toward the front of the alter/wedding site. A very popular traditional march selection for this occasion is Mari’s Wedding.

Recessional- Once the newlyweds have said their “I do’s”, followed by a kiss, the piper will appear near the front of the stage or remain stationary from a short distance away. With a euphoric and joyful tune like Scotland the Brave, the piper may lead the couple up the aisle, follow behind or wait stationary playing from a distance within the wedding site.

Postlude- Many times the bagpiper will continue marching straight out of the wedding site, leading the recent married couple outside while beckoning the guests to follow suit. This serves to draw the guests outside the building where they can gather and congratulate the new couple while listening to traditional Highland Bagpipe wedding music.

Reception- Again, a bagpiper can make an effective introduction for any reception. By playing at the reception, the guests will be immediately notified of the newlyweds pending arrival. Conversely, the bagpiper can play some lively scores as guests enjoy their food and drinks.

Please Note-It is important to remember there are no rules for weddings, only suggestions. Every wedding is an opportunity to add individual flare and unique creativity.
